Biography of Stephen Crane
Stephen Crane was an American pacifist writer and journalist.
He was born on November 1, 1871, in Newark, New Jersey, into a Methodist minister's large family. Crane attended several educational institutions, including Lafayette College and Syracuse University, but showed little interest in academics.
Instead, he focused on journalism, writing, and baseball.
In 1891, Crane worked for his brother's news agency. The following year, he moved to New York City and became a newspaper reporter, living in a poverty-stricken neighborhood.
